blog & nonsense | Loneliness is the Most Terrible Poverty - Mother Teresa

Someone released a statement…

The following “spin” statement was released today.

SALT LAKE CITY, 7 November 2008

“It is disturbing that [someone] is being singled out for speaking up as part of its democratic right in a free election.” No, what’s disturbing is that you can’t take accountability for the consequences of what’s rightfully your doing.  A true democracy doesn’t allow civil rights to be taken away from anyone.  Black, white, short, tall, sinner or saint.  It allows you to believe what you want, and me to believe what I want.

“While those who disagree with our position on Proposition 8 have the right to make their feelings known, it is wrong to target the [someone] and its sacred places of worship for being part of the democratic process.”  No, it’s not wrong.  It’s sooooooooooo right.  What one calls sacred, another calls sacrilege.  God bless America for that.  You keep what you want behind your democracy-entitled doors and so will everyone else.  Once you bring what’s behind those doors and try and inflict it upon others in unraveling of civil rights… then you invite others to your very doorsteps.  So keep your doors closed and stay inside them.  Send out your emissaries… distribute your literature… if people are interested, they’ll let you know and you can usher them in behind those doors.  Don’t take your issues to the polls, don’t legislate morality or you’ll unravel all the progress and positive contributions you’ve made to society.  You realize, I hope, that your belief system was the same prior to this and will remain intact after.  What’s changed is your meddling in matters of State.

“Once again, we call on those involved in the debate […] to act in a spirit of mutual respect and civility towards each other.  No one on either side of the question should be vilified, harassed or subject to erroneous information.”   Please find another word other than “civility”.  For “civil” is at the very core of what you’ve violated.  Be actively engaged in the cause of anything other than matters of “civility” please.

A wolf in shepherd’s clothing…

Here’s a quote from an un-named source.  Not that hard to figure out from whom…  You know how Fox News likes to tout itself as the “no spin zone” or whatever when really it’s entirely “spin”?  Well, the “Newsroom” of this organization takes queues from that concept.  I envision an entire floor of people buzzing around with phones ringing and people scurrying trying to find any mention of its likeness in print or on the Internets so that it can put out a “spin” article to try and premtively shape the public opinion of itself.  I picture one of these people looking like Loise Lane.  I don’t know why… I just do.

Here’s a “spin” piece of garbage below…

“We hope that now and in the future all parties involved in this issue will be well informed and act in a spirit of mutual respect and civility toward those with a different position.  No one on any side of the question should be vilified, intimidated, harassed or subject to erroneous information.”

That’s an outright lie…

“Even though the democratic process can be demanding and difficult … [we] … are profoundly grateful for and respect the ideals of a true democracy.”

Yet another lie…

Here’s a little less spin…  above you speak of democracy… a democracy which allowed you to exist.  A democracy which was the foundation of your creation.  Like no other place on earth at the time.  A democracy which allowed you to create a minority belief system, to live, to practice, to believe as your conscience dictated.   A democracy which at times (in your history) worked entirely against you, issued extermination orders upon you… drove you from your homes, your families, your way of life.  A democracy which led you to fight for your rights, your anonymity, your minority way of life, your peculiarity, and your ability to be left alone by those who did not agree, nor understand your practices.

Organizations in your history (e.g. the Government) sought you out to persecute you… you didn’t solicit a fight, you didn’t ask to be accepted by the mainstream… you merely existed and that posed an apparent threat (to those who had the power and influence to invoke actions against you).  They came after you… they killed you, they sought to exterminate you and they drove you thousands of miles away.  You never once asked to be accepted.  You merely asked to be.  To simply… be.

You were labeled as “enemies” which “must be exterminated or driven [...] if necessary for the public peace“  You were categorically labeled that your practices and people were “outrages [...] beyond all description.”  Such strong words… those words are what turned mobs of people against you.  Mere words.  Only words.

We know you are not enemies however… that you are not “outrages”…  You are and never were any of those things.  To promote as much would be “erroneous information“.  Information which was used to entice a crowd of people to behave in a calculated way.

You… just wanted to be left alone.  You didn’t plead throughout your struggles in this democracy for acceptance or even for acknowledgment, let alone condonement of your lifestyle, or practices.  You pleaded for your freedom of assembly, your freedom of choice, your freedom of beliefs.  You pleaded for your civil rights to be respected, honored and protected.

How ironic, now… that you use the same incendiary tactics that nearly prevented your existence (and directly led to the execution of your founder) to attempt to inflict your ideology on those who just want to be left alone to exercise their own civil rights and exist as their own conscience dictates.  You enticed a crowd of people to behave in a very calculated way.  Mere words, along the lines of “for the public peace” drew your members into pouring money in by the tens of millions.  Just as you intended.

You can “perceive” all sorts of threats and believe that you are acting in the best interest of (whomever).  You can also jump to “erroneous” conclusions and distribute, fund and promote those “erroneous” arguments to incite mobs of people/members to do what you want.

What you’ve done, however, is acted in a manner not becoming of your existence or purpose.  What you’ve done is wield calculated behavior of your adherents to inflict your singular beliefs upon others in and attempt to thwart the civil rights of individuals.

You… (to whom I’m speaking) are not the believers.  You are not the basic precepts or tentants of the belief system of this organization, for the organization is good.  Very good.  You (to whom I’m speaking) are the executive leadership of this organization.  You are who is culpable.

The Palin Factor

This is a long video I realize but it gets good close to the 6:30 mark.  Watch the whole thing if you have the time.  This is a precise example of why so many Republican are wrought over casting a vote for McCain/Palin.  Palin is a blithering imbecile (in my not so humble opinion).  The defense the campaign is putting up for her “job description” of Vice President (clip is in video below) is that she was providing an answer phrased so a child would understand.

That’s all well and good… but let me ask you this.  If YOU had to explain to a child these two primary things that a VP does;

  • Takes the place of the President in the event they are physically unable to.
  • Casts tie-breaking vote in the Senate.

In YOUR explanation to a child, would you choose to say any of the following things to illustrate those two points;

  • “They are in charge of the United States Senate”
  • “So if they want to … they can make a lot of good policy changes”

Honestly… if you had to explain the primary roles of the Vice President, would you choose to say either of the things Palin said?  I wouldn’t, and it goes to show how fundamentally clueless she is.  It’s scary to think that if elected…  While McCain is in cardiac arrest.  She’ll be busy running “the United States Senate” and making “a lot of good policy changes” instead of answering the bat phone and becoming the executor of United States.

I honestly don’t know what I would do if I was on the far right side of the red party.

"Listen to me!" - John McCain

So painful.  Now his own VP candidate is throwing him under the bus about the “robocalls”.  McCain gets teeeeeeesssssssttttyyyyyyyyyy on CBS Early Show this morning!  Watch till the end!

In other news… here’s some Republicans to be proud of.  Some very intelligent, objective, avid supporters of McCain lashing out and chasing off the fringe, the ill-informed, bigoted Republicans that have received so much airplay as of late at McCain rally’s.

Time of death…

This is from today… Senator McCain… still talking about what WE should be talking about… not what American’s ARE talking about… what he thinks we should be thinking, talking, and asking.

He’s so completely out of touch…

No wonder he can’t read a tele-prompter…

Good grief!  Watch how many times McCain blinks in under 30 seconds… like more than 50 times.  If your eyes aren’t open, how are you supposed to read an entire sentence on a tele-prompter?  I understand now.  It’s all good.
