No commentsSoundCloud
Just testing out a new music service called SoundCloud… don’t quite understand it’s purpose yet but wanted to see if I could post a song.
Also, I need you (yes YOU) to open your iTunes or whatever and look for the track you’ve played THE MOST and put it in my drop box below. I wanna hear it!
New Music Monday, Bayside
A group of musicians formed in 2000, they’ve released 4 full-length albums so far. They come from New York City. I know it’s a little emo/whiny, sue me.

New Music Monday, Frank Musik
Yet to produce an album, Frank Musik (or FRANKMUSIC, I’m not quite sure which) was recently signed to Island Records. He hails from London, is 21 I think and has a unique sound. Kinda like MIKA but a little less odd. Maybe he’s more odd in person, who knows… who cares. I’m addicted to this song, don’t remember how I stumbled upon it, and it took me forever to get it because it’s only for sale digitally if you live in the UK. He’s supposed to release his debut album this summer. I’ve listened to it 31 times in 3 days according to iTunes. O.C.D.

A duo from Norway, likely never to release a new album. The below song is from their second album “Riot on an Empty Street” which was released in 2004. The pair has each pursued separate endeavors, one going solo, the other in another band.

An alter-rock (they call their genre “slow-motion rock”) Icelandic band (Bjork’s heritage as well). Their sound is melodic and “ethereal”. The band’s name is pronounced “see-or rous” and is derived from the lead singers little sisters name “Sigurros”. Their latest album dropped earlier this month, titled “Med sud I eyrum vid spilum endalaust”. Who knows what that means. Album art is kinda odd as well.

New Music Monday, The Sunstreak
Fresh & barely signed, The Sunstreak hails from New York. Likely a flash in the pan, but they’ve booked the Warped Tour the last couple of years, so they may gain some tread. They just barely got digital distribution which made it a pain to find… This is a good melodic song though.

New Music Monday, Youth Group
Youth Group is an alternative/indie rock band from Newtown, Sydney, Australia. This is just a nice cover of Alphaville’s Forever Young. I don’t think this band does much anymore…

New Music Monday, The Kooks
My friend tipped me off to these guys… apparently they are very popular across the pond. The song featured below was released in 2006 and stayed in the UK Top 20 Charts for more than half that year.
Their sound is unique… they’re obviously English, but they don’t loose their accents when they sing (which most do I thought). In fact, you can often barely understand them.
Last month they released their sophomore album titled “Konk” which has a couple of noteworthy tracks, namely “Always Where I Need To Be” and “See The Sun”.
